Meet Meryl Moore

Owner & Creative Designer of Artisan Cakes and Confections

Following a successful professional career and bringing up a family, I rekindled my long-held passion for baking delicious cakes and French patisserie and decided to have a second career!

There then followed a ten-year stint working in the cake industry for a leading cake decorating company, advising and teaching many clients on baking and cake decorating techniques.

I had always wanted to run my own business and having found suitable premises decided to launch my new company, Artisan Cakes and Confections in 2022 making luxury wedding cakes, celebration cakes and macarons.

My signature cake style is elegant, romantic and contemporary. I’m devoted to achieving exceptional flavour in all my bakes, continuously trying new combinations, using seasonal and local ingredients where possible, and only the very best ingredients available to create the most memorable cakes and centrepieces for my clients.

Sugarcraft, flowers, macarons and chocolate feature highly in my work, and I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have been taught these skills by world leading renowned experts.

Inspired by nature, I adore flowers almost as much as cake! I use both sugar and fresh varieties in my cake designs.

And of course, having realistic sugar flowers is a fabulous way to have flowers that are either unsuitable or out of season included on a cake and wonderful to have as a keepsake for many years to come.
